Fall Sports Reads

There are a whole whack of great sports books coming out this fall (some are out already). Here are a few:

Mind Game-Steve Goldman

Now I Can Die In Peace-Bill Simmons

The ESPN College Football Encyclopedia

The Best Game You Can Name: The People's Story of Hockey-David Bidini

The Only Game That Matters: The Harvard/Yale Rivalry-Bernard M. Corbett & Paul Simpson

If Football's A Religion, Why Don't We Have A Prayer?-Jere Longman

This one has been out for awhile, but it is worth noting, if only for the great stories (the ties to globalization are a little weak).

How Soccer Explains The World-Franklin Foer

And one that will be either really good or really bad. If Dr. Phil picks it up, it won't matter: it will be really popular.

Rules Of The Red Rubber Ball-Kevin Carroll

I am reading the Bidini book right now, and it is fantastic. More thoughts on it later.
