In one of the weirdest sports twists ever, convicted criminal Eric James Torpy has successfully requested that his prison sentence be extended to equal the jersey number of Celtics legend Larry Bird. Originally sentenced to a 30-year term, Torpy asked that the sentence be extended to 33 years. The judge granted the request, clearly lacking a sense of poetic justice. The man is a criminal. The judge should have given him 32 years instead.
