Prediction For Viewers: Pain

Sylvester Stallone is planning a 6th installment of the Rocky series.

According to the article, it will focus on Rocky as an aging widower attempting a comeback in the ring, which is good in one sense because it means we don't have to put up with Talia Shire. On the other hand, it's bad because the dude's like 60 years old in real life. Unless this is meant to be a satire of aging stars like Larry Holmes, George Foreman, and Thomas "Hitman" Hearns-- who have never permanently hung up the trunks--I just can't see any good coming out of this.

On a side note, how did I not know that Talia Shire is the mother of Jason Schwartzman of Rushmore fame? The lesson, as always: we'd know nothing without IMDB.com.

Now don't get me wrong, I thought the first four Rocky movies were enjoyable, particularly III and IV, but they'd clearly jumped the shark with V. Only three things can redeem this movie for me:

1. The long anticipated rematch between Rocky and Ivan Drago (who will probably be 60 pounds overweight and working as an enforcer for the Russian mob).
2. The rubber match of the Rocky-Clubber Lang series.
3. They finally reveal what happened in the fight in the gym between Rocky and Apollo at the end of Rocky III.

I'm not holding my breath on any account. Why can't you leave well enough alone Stallone? I mean, is anyone clamoring for another Rocky?

Any bets on how long it is before Bill Simmns devotes a 4000 word piece on this news?
