The Worst Franchises In Sports

Page 2 has a feature up looking at the worst teams in sports. Now that the Clippers are doing fairly well (knock on wood), I guess you had to start looking for someone to replace them. When I was growing up, the worst teams were definitely the New Jersey "Mickey Mouse" Devils, the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Oh, and the Leafs and Yankees sucked ass, too. Man, those were the glory days. The Devils and the Braves obviously righted ship in the early to mid-90's, while the Bucs did so in the late 90's/early 00's under Tony Dungy. The Clippers are doing fine now, although what counts for success for them isn't what counts as a success for the model franchises. If I had to list the four worst franchises in sports now, one from each of the North American majors, I would have to go with:

1) The Kansas City Royals

2) The Chicago Blawkhawks

3) The Arizona Cardinals

4) The Atlanta Hawks

The Knicks don't count to me, because all they are is one GM and a bunch of money away from sorting things out. Any team that can spend its way out of trouble doesn't make my list, even if the fact that they just throw money away is in large part the reason why they are so shitty in the first place. I also could have gone with the Lions in the NFL, but the Cardinals just suck so hard, even with Boldin and Fitzgerald. Maybe they can fix things now that Dennis Green and Edgerrin James are there, but for now it is stink and see.
