It's Not Easy Bein' Green
Brian Burke is the current General Manager of the Ducks, and immediate past General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks. As if that wasn't enough reason to dislike the guy, I found out today that Burke tried to get rid of Brass Bonanza when he was General Manager of the Hartford Whalers. Sure, the guy drafted Chris Pronger, but c'mon. Ban Brass Bonanza? Are you kidding me?I am watching Burke on SportsNet right now. It never ceases to amaze me how much of a grump this guy is. My favorite is when he complains about "the media" and how they cover things, despite the fact that he was an analyst on TSN for the past few years. In honour of the Grinch Who Almost Stole Bonanza, here is Carmen Electra dancing to it on the Craig Kilborn show! As Kermit would say, "Yayyyyyyy!!!"

He also fired Pierre Maguire as Head Coach of the Whalers. Monster mistake there.
Actually, Brian Burke resigned after one season as Whalers GM to become VP of the NHL. He stuck around long enough for the 1993 entry draft, when the Whalers drafted Chris Pronger, and then departed. Pierre McGuire replaced Paul Holmgren as coach of the Whalers during the 1993-1994 season, and he was fired at the end of the season. McGuire's firing was an absolute necessity. He was a terrible coach and an egomaniac, to boot.
But, yes, Burke did ban Brass Bonanza from the Hartford Civic Center, and that is simply unforgivable.
