San Jose fans have made ESPN's Daily Quickie. I'd gloat more, but Canadian fans booed the American national anthem at the the World Juniors in Vancouver, and Oilers fans booed it when we played the Dallas Stars in the playoffs.
***Update*** Matt Romig has picked up the story, noting that, "Politics fueled the battle the last time American and Canadian fans took turns disrespecting their neighbors by drowning out national songs. The origin of Sunday's protest at HP Pavilion was likely pure stupidity." My hope is that Canadian news outlets will also pick up any stupidity on our part.

Yah, I suspect there are a sufficient number of meat-heads in the homeland that will jump at the opportunity to reciprocate on Wednesday. Granted, Edmonton Fans (and Montreal) have let out the chorus of boos before during a US anthem. Mind you, for more political and altruistc reasons, i.e. protesting the charade that is the Iraq war (wow, been going on a long time that war, I wonder who's winning).
San Jose's fans are just dumb as shit though and liquor and/or stupididty have to be the motivation this time. Though I did read somewhere today that it was in response to a barely audible boo during the US anthem on Friday. I don't know, I was watching the game but missed the stupid songs so If anyone closer to home can shed light that would be great. My best thought to counter the San Jose fans is to have Mr. Laurieu (sp?) sing half the US anthem in french, which would likely create more outcry than if he just pissed on an upside down American flag and whistled 'God Save the Queen'
So far I've counted twenty profusely apologetic journalists for every insulted Canadian.
Personally, I don't care. As long as folks in San Jose keep filling the arena, fill yer BOOts.
Well, there is that Spanish anthem that a bunch of illegals/illegal advocates created. You wanna piss people off? There ya go.
That being said, an eye for an eye of any sort is about as classy as a kick in the junk. The best thing we can do here is nothing at all.
