He Must Be 45 Years Old!

The title of this post was my dad's reaction when I told him that Jeff George is making a comeback with the Oakland Raiders. Credit to Kissing Suzy Kolber not only for digging up the story, but for finding a vintage SI cover with George and his cheesy Mike Piazza-esque mustache in full glory.

As for the comeback itself, what do you say? George is 38 years, has not thrown a pass since 2001, and has appeared in 8 total games this millennium. George is unlikely to make it very far with the Raiders, since they have 3 quarterbacks on their roster already, but stranger things have happened. In any case, whoever suits up for the silver and black is likely just a placeholder until the team drafts Brady Quinn next spring after a 4-12 finish.

Yup, it must be a fun time to be a Raiders fans. The most excitiment you'll get this season is for George and head coach Art Shell to re-enact the Ted Lilly/John Gibbons incident at some point this season.
