I got up to get a glass of water, and now I'm too excited to go back to sleep.
This is like Christmas day, but obviously more important to me, since I'm up before 4, instead of being up before 6 like I am every year for that holiday.
I ignored my original plan and went straight to franchise mode. My original plan of starting on all-madden level is being scrapped after 3 consecutive regular season blowouts, mostly because the 49ers are the worst team in the league according to the Madden ratings, and I'm not doing them any favors with my gameplay.
I shall slink back to All-Pro shortly.
As for the game itself, I haven't enabled the lead blocker feature, as it seems kind of pointless, and there aren't many new features in franchise mode. I suppose the team specific defensive playbooks is nice, but otherwise...same as 2006 (and 2005). Ditto the gameplay. It's good, but there are no major advances over previous editions.
On first impression, I give it a thumbs up, because it's still fun to play, but I'll hold off on offering an enthusiastic endorsement.
I still haven't played, because I'm surfing around trying to hear all the songs. I like. One cool thing is the Legends player cards that pop up while the game is loading. I just got to see a nice James Lofton image.
Don't think so. I could have sworn there was a tournament function in past games, though it's possible that we've talked about doing Madden tournaments in the past, so I'm just assuming it was a feature.
No, I didn't. But on a related note, I just uploaded the real rosters from Action Replay, so I'm ready to start my college dynasty. I just hope that I don't destroy Brady Quinn's skills this year.
Good call with the roles, though I haven't really encountered that yet.
Lelie's a good gamble for the Falcons, though I wonder about Washington's reasoning for picking up Duckett. Perhaps Portis's injury is more severe than we initially thought.
I thought TJ would have been a perfect fit as the backup in Pittsburgh, but I can see why they'd balk at giving up two draft picks for him, which is what the 'Skins (who treat picks like the plague) were willing to do.
I did indeed start a franchise, and my roster is sick. I won't say who, in case we actually do do the Madden weekend, but I'm stoked. Couple of things:
1) Either I'm getting way too good at this game, or they made the Training Camp easier. I got points for every single drill but one.
2) I've only played one game--in Pro--but I've noted a huge improvement in the AI. My opponent has Jake Plummer as their QB, and he acts just like Jake Plummer. He moves around in the pocket, scrambles for yards when I am about to sack him, and even throws right to your Defensive Back for an interception when he is pressured. Normally, the QBs just stand there and take it. And I've been stopped on 4th and Goal twice. Maybe it's just the one opponent, but it already seems much more realistic than last year's game.
Good trade for the Skins, but the Dirty Birds still have to sign Lelie.

Woo HOOOOO!!!!
4 Hours...I hope. The people at EB are going to think I'm crazy when I show up and wait for them to put the game on the shelf.
But it will be worth it.
Full pot of coffe. Check.
Jalapeno Chips. Check.
Open schedule today. Check.
Headshakes from family members. Check.
Madden 2007 in my XBox. Check.
This is going to be awesome.
I just got my copy, and I'm already stoked by the song that plays on the main menu. I need to figure out who it is. That cowbell is amazing!

Negative: they got rid of the hit stick. I loved that feature.
No HIV stick? Damn. I loved yelling that out.
The NFL Network thing is cool. I like having Sterling Sharpe tell me how to run plays.
And the HIV stick appears to still be there. You just use the C stick for a big hit. They might have just stopped calling it that.
Is that tournament mode new? That is a plus.

It must be. It didn't say it was new.
My roster is sick. I hate doing training camp, though.
Positive: some players have roles, similar to what EA has in hockey. Attributes are enhanced while a player has that icon assigned to him.
Abboud, did you notice that you can play an All-Star College Game, to help you identify the best prospects?
No, I didn't. But on a related note, I just uploaded the real rosters from Action Replay, so I'm ready to start my college dynasty. I just hope that I don't destroy Brady Quinn's skills this year.

Have you started a franchise yet?
Hey look! An NFL trade involving actual players.
