Doo Do Doo, Do Do Loo Doo Do Do Doo...

Doo do doo, do do loo doo do do doo.

We interrupt your March Madness viewing to bring you breaking NFL News.

The Detroit Lions have signed Josh "Tears of" McCown to a 2 year contract.

McCown, late of the Arizona Cardinals, has started on and off for the past two years, and has put up some impressive passing performances for an otherwise mediocre team.

McCown, an underrated performer, and owner of one of Andy's favorite Bermanisms, is in his mid-20s, and has shown enough talent on the field to make you believe he can be a very good NFL Quarterback. Under the tutelage of new Lions Offensive Coordinator The Mike Martz Face, he could very well get there.

Earlier this week, the Lions signed another Quarterback - Jon Kitna. He will compete with McCown for playing time. Joey Harrington will likely be released after four disappointing seasons, since nobody's going to want to trade for him.

I have to hand it to the Lions' front office, they've made two great moves this week. Kitna is a solid Quarterback who will either be a great backup or an adequate starter in the short term. McCown is the type of player that I've advocated that teams target in free agency, and I believe that not only will the Cards regret letting him walk, but teams like the Jets and the Vikings will regret passing on him.

I don't know if it's the influence of new Head Coach Rod Marinelli, or if Matt Millen's been on vacation this week, but the Lions deserve a definite thumbs up for their work in free agency so far. For the first time in a long time, it should feel good to be a Detroit Lions fan.

My Eagles signed Jabar Gaffney today. A solid pick-up, in my estimation.

That gives them, what, 4 guys who are well-suited to be a #2/#3 receiver?

I'm not sure what he brings to the table that Todd Pinkston and Reggie Brown don't already.

I think Brown will be the #1, and has the potential to be a great receiver. Gaffney is a solid #2.

Wow. The Eagles signed Jeff Garcia today, too. I wonder if they did it so they could all bitch about TO?

Brown could become a #1, but I don't think it will happen this year, and I'm still not sold he'll be an All-Pro quality receiver.

The Garcia signing is a good move. He's a much better backup than Koy Detmer. It has the potential to become a great move if the Eagles don't do something to upgrade the offensive line, because if they don't, Donovan McNabb's not making it through the year in one piece.

If they can add a quality player to the line, I think the Eagles will have had a very good off-season.
